Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical / Medical Stroke unit with an average daily census of 26–28 patients and capacity to flex up to 35 beds
- Manage a patient ratio of 1:5–6 with support from Patient Care Technicians (PCTs)
- Care for patients presenting with conditions including COPD, pneumonia, abdominal pain, stroke, and occasional surgical overflow including thyroidectomy
- Assist in the care of post-TPA stroke patients and lower-level stroke cases
- Accurately perform or support NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale) assessments as applicable
Required Qualifications
- Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in West Virginia or a compact state
- Current BLS certification
- Experience in a Medical Surgical inpatient setting
Preferred Experience / Skills
- NIHSS certification or demonstrated experience caring for stroke patients
- Proficiency with Epic EMR
- Prior travel nursing experience
