    Travel RN – Med/Surg Orthopedics & Spine (Night Shift)

    Overland Park, Kansas

    Schedule / Job Type

    Contract | Travel | 12-Week Assignment | Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Full-Time | Onsite

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide direct patient care on a fast-paced 36-bed Orthopedics & Spine specialty unit managing orthopedic injuries, neurological conditions including stroke and head injuries, and trauma patients
    • Maintain patient ratios of 5–6:1 while delivering safe, high-quality nursing care across night shift hours
    • Perform wound care and dressing changes, and operate specialty equipment including traction, external fixators, halos, walkers, gait belts, bed alarms, continuous pulse ox, and remote telemetry monitoring
    • Utilize the facility EMR system (Meditech) and a mobile communication platform (Mobile Heartbeat) to coordinate care with interdisciplinary team members including physical therapy, occupational therapy, radiology, and respiratory therapy
    • Rotate through every third weekend (potentially every other weekend depending on unit needs)
    • Collaborate with charge nurses and support staff including PCTs and unit clerks to ensure smooth unit operations
    Required Qualifications
    • Active Kansas RN license (required prior to start)
    • Minimum 2 years of acute care hospital experience on a Med/Surg or Telemetry unit
    • Current BLS certification
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
    • Prior experience in orthopedic, spine, or trauma nursing
    • Familiarity with Meditech EMR or similar hospital information systems
