    Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical

    Location

    Oakland, MD | Acute Care

    Schedule / Job Type

    Contract | 12-Hour Day Shifts (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM) | Every Other Weekend Required | Holiday Rotation with Regular Staff

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide direct patient care on a Med/Surg unit managing a diverse patient population including chest pain, CHF, pneumonia, abdominal pain, pancreatitis, orthopedic, detox, post-operative, and pediatric patients
    • Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of no more than 5 patients per nurse
    • Document telemetry strip readings faxed from the ICU monitor technicians
    • Collaborate with Respiratory Therapy for management of CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen equipment
    • Float to other units as needed to assist as a tasker or additional set of hands
    • Complete unit-specific orientation including MedTech, pharmacy, and lab training (3–5 days on-unit)
    Required Qualifications
    • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
    • BLS certification (required)
    • NIHSS certification (required for all RNs)
    • EPIC EMR experience required
    • Strong Med/Surg background with experience managing a high variety of patient diagnoses
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • ACLS certification (recommended but not required)
    • PALS certification (recommended but not required)
    • Experience with pediatric patient populations
    • Familiarity with block scheduling preferences in a travel nursing context
