Contract | 12-Hour Night Shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | Onsite | Every other weekend required (Friday, Saturday, Sunday nights) | Holidays rotate with regular staff
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 32-bed Med/Surg unit (currently operating at 20 beds) with a nurse-to-patient ratio of no more than 5:1
- Care for a diverse patient population including chest pain, CHF, pneumonia, abdominal pain, pancreatitis, orthopedic, detox, and post-operative patients, including pediatric patients
- Document telemetry strip readings faxed from the ICU monitor technicians
- Collaborate with respiratory therapy for management of CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen patients
- Float to assist other units as a tasker or extra set of hands as needed
- Complete documentation using EPIC EMR
Required Qualifications
- Active RN licensure
- BLS certification (required)
- NIHSS certification (required for all RNs)
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Strong Med/Surg background due to the variety of patient diagnoses managed on this unit
Preferred Experience / Skills
- ACLS certification (recommended but not required)
- PALS certification (recommended but not required)
- Experience with CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen patients
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-acuity Med/Surg environment with a broad patient census
