    Job Title

    Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical

    Location

    Norfolk, NE | Acute Care

    Schedule / Job Type

    Contract | Days | Onsite | 6:00 AM – 6:30 PM | Weekends and holidays as needed

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide direct patient care on a 38-bed Medical Surgical unit managing a variety of diagnoses including pneumonia, UTI, dehydration, influenza, alcohol withdrawal, and surgical cases (orthopedic, general surgery, spinal, and urology)
    • Maintain a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5–6, with the ability to manage a 1:6 ratio; high turnover on day shift — expect admissions upon patient discharges
    • Titrate drips including Heparin; administer set-rate drips such as Bumex and Lasix
    • Conduct bedside shift report and perform proactive patient rounding
    • Collaborate with CNAs, cardiac techs, respiratory therapy, and nursing supervisors available 24/7; may float to IMCU for Medical Surgical assignments
    • Document accurately using EPIC electronic health records
    Required Qualifications
    • Active RN licensure
    • BLS certification required
    • Minimum 1 year of Medical Surgical nursing experience
    • Proficiency with EPIC documentation
    • Ability to manage a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio
    • Experience with bedside shift report
    • Must live at least 45 miles from the facility to be eligible
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Experience caring for surgical patients including orthopedic, spinal, general surgery, and urology populations
    • Familiarity with respiratory therapy equipment such as trachs, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen
    • Strong teamwork skills including answering call lights and collaborating effectively with CNA staff
