Contract | Travel | 13 Weeks | Nights 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | Three 12-hour shifts per week; two weekends (4 shifts) per 4-week schedule | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver attentive and compassionate care to patients on a 20-bed Neuro Med/Surg unit with a 6:1 patient ratio
- Perform and maintain IV starts, basic wound care, surgical drains, nasogastric tubes, and chest tubes
- Utilize unit equipment including IV pumps, telemetry, continuous pulse ox machines, feeding pumps, PCA, EKG machines, and bladder scanners
- Document patient care accurately using the Meditech electronic documentation system
- Conduct bedside shift reports and actively include patients and family members in the plan of care
- Float to other units as directed per contract labor floating policy
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
- Current BLS certification
- Minimum of 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience
- Ability to prioritize care and multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with IV insertion and management of surgical drains, nasogastric tubes, and chest tubes
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience in a Neurology or Neuro Med/Surg setting
- Familiarity with Meditech electronic health records documentation
- Experience working in a Comprehensive Stroke or Trauma Center environment
