Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 22-bed Orthopedic/Telemetry unit with a focus on joint replacements, fractures, and post-operative orthopedic patients
- Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5–6, with CNA support available on each shift
- Monitor telemetry as needed; RNs are not required to independently read strips
- Utilize respiratory equipment (CPAP, BiPAP, High Flow) on an as-needed basis
- Participate in weekend rotation (every other weekend or 2 weekend shifts per schedule) and holiday rotation as expected
- Float as needed to other units within the facility
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license valid for the state of West Virginia
- BLS certification (required)
- Must have Total Joint Replacement experience — fracture experience alone does not meet this requirement
- Strong orthopedic nursing background required
- COVID-19 vaccination required (full vaccination series); medical or religious exemption requests must be submitted with appropriate documentation for review and approval
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience working on an orthopedic/telemetry combination unit
- Familiarity with post-operative joint replacement care protocols
- Comfort with floating to similar medical-surgical units within a large acute care environment
