Provide direct patient care on a 42-bed Medical Surgical unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5 (occasionally 1:6)
Care for a diverse patient population including total joints, orthopedic hip fractures, spine surgeries, urology procedures, general surgeries, GYN overflow, and medical overflow cases such as COPD, sepsis, and behavioral health
Read and interpret telemetry strips independently; unit utilizes virtual tele techs and SpaceLab/Philips monitoring systems
Manage common drips including heparin, PCAs, and morphine drips (titration of drips not required)
Collaborate with charge nurses, patient care techs (1:8 ratio), and RT staff managing CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow equipment
May precept new travelers or nursing students as needed; willingness to do so should be noted during interview
Required Qualifications
Active RN license
Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience required
BLS certification required
EKG certification required
EPIC EMR experience required
Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips independently
Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
Preferred Experience / Skills
Experience with orthopedic, surgical, or urology patient populations
Comfort with precepting travelers or nursing students
Familiarity with Philips monitoring systems
