Travel Nurse RN - Medical-Surgical in Lafayette, LA

Key Responsibilities Provide direct patient care on a medical-surgical unit managing diagnoses including chest pain, CAD, arrhythmias, COPD exacerbation, CHF, renal failure, GI bleed, MI, and related conditions, with potential for med-surg overflow (e.g., sepsis, CVA, COVID+). Perform and assist with specialized procedures including pre/post cath lab care, PPM/AICD, ablations, post-op CABG, post-op thoracotomy, vascular surgeries (CEAs, fem-pops), and AAA repair.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a medical-surgical unit managing diagnoses including chest pain, CAD, arrhythmias, COPD exacerbation, CHF, renal failure, GI bleed, MI, and related conditions, with potential for med-surg overflow (e.g., sepsis, CVA, COVID+)
• Perform and assist with specialized procedures including pre/post cath lab care, PPM/AICD, ablations, post-op CABG, post-op thoracotomy, vascular surgeries (CEAs, fem-pops), and AAA repair
• Titrate drips including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Nitroglycerin, Dopamine, and Heparin; perform bedside sheath pulling
• Operate and monitor specialized equipment including telemetry, chest tubes, PCAs, epidurals, and wound vacs
• Be available for float to other inpatient units based on departmental needs
• Participate in emergency response team duties as directed by unit manager during declared emergency events, which may include remaining on-site until the event resolves or serving on a relief team

Required Qualifications

• Active Compact or Louisiana RN license — must be in hand at time of submittal
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Medical-Surgical nursing
• AHA certifications required
• NURSYS report must be submitted with profile and current within 4 weeks of submission date
• Must be willing to work 2 of 4 designated holiday periods annually (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)
• Must reside more than 65 miles from the facility (as shown on driver's license) to be eligible — local travelers are not accepted

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior travel nursing experience in a cardiac or medical-surgical setting
• Familiarity with telemetry monitoring and hemodynamic drip titration
• Experience with post-surgical and vascular patient populations
