Contract | Nights (3x12-Hour Shifts, 19:00–07:30) | 36- or 48-hour weekly options available | Up to 26 weeks | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a Medical-Surgical unit with strong post-surgical competencies, maintaining expected patient ratios of 1:6 (may flex higher on rare occasions with support staff on site)
- Float as needed to other Medical-Surgical areas, ICU, and ED waiting areas to accommodate Medical-Surgical patient needs
- Perform and manage a broad range of clinical skills including telemetry remote monitoring, colostomy care, feeding tube care, pre/post hemodialysis management, port access, blood product administration, peripheral and PICC line management, and IV starts
- Administer and monitor medications including Heparin, Insulin, and PCA; manage surgical drains and chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac)
- Provide airway management support including High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), tracheostomy management, oral suctioning, oxygen delivery systems, and non-invasive airway management
- Maintain isolation precautions and perform wound care including wound vac management; adhere to all facility compliance and float policies
Required Qualifications
- Valid Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
- Minimum 1.5 years of Medical-Surgical or PCU experience required
- Strong post-surgical competencies required
- Holiday coverage is required; RTO during holidays must remain flexible to accommodate staffing needs; RTO not to exceed 10 days total
- Every-other-weekend availability required; no call requirement
- Locals are welcome; no radius restrictions apply
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience floating across multiple units including ICU and Emergency Department settings
- Proficiency with a broad clinical skill set including chest tube management, tracheostomy care, and wound vac therapy
- Comfort working in higher-acuity environments with flexible staffing demands
