Travel Nurse RN - Medical-Surgical in Henderson, KY

Key Responsibilities Provide direct patient care on a 45-bed Medical-Surgical unit serving a general M/S population including post-surgical patients (gallbladder, colectomy, appendectomy, hip/knee replacements, ORIFs) and medical patients presenting with GI bleeds, CHF, COPD, sepsis, UTI, respiratory conditions, and COVID-19. Perform and manage PIV insertion, chest tube and indwelling drain management, continuous bladder irrigation (CBI), drip management (heparin, cardizem), PEG/NG tubes, ostomy care, remote telemetry, and blood product administration.

Contract (13 Weeks) | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts (6:30 PM – 7:00 AM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 45-bed Medical-Surgical unit serving a general M/S population including post-surgical patients (gallbladder, colectomy, appendectomy, hip/knee replacements, ORIFs) and medical patients presenting with GI bleeds, CHF, COPD, sepsis, UTI, respiratory conditions, and COVID-19
• Perform and manage PIV insertion, chest tube and indwelling drain management, continuous bladder irrigation (CBI), drip management (heparin, cardizem), PEG/NG tubes, ostomy care, remote telemetry, and blood product administration
• Conduct NIHSS assessments and dysphagia screenings; demonstrate strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Float within skillset as first to float, including potential cross-campus float with a minimum of 2 hours notice; mid-shift float within the same campus is also possible
• Adhere to weekend and holiday rotation requirements: every third weekend and every other holiday
• May be required to precept students and new hires in this teaching environment

Required Qualifications

• Current, active Compact RN License required
• AHA BLS Certification required — must be attached at time of submittal
• NIHSS Certification required — must be attached at time of submittal
• Minimum of two years of strong Medical-Surgical experience and at least one prior travel assignment
• Recent Epic EMR experience required (checkoff class will be required upon start)
• Must live at least 40 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with drip management including heparin and cardizem infusions
• Proficiency in remote telemetry monitoring
• Demonstrated ability to adapt to change, manage a high patient ratio, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work collaboratively with an experienced unit staff
