    Registered Nurse – Medical-Surgical (Observation)

    Evansville, IN

    Schedule / Job Type

    Contract (13 Weeks) | Full-Time | Nights (6:30 PM – 7:00 AM, 12-Hour Shifts) | Onsite | 36 Guaranteed Hours Per Week

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide direct patient care on a 23-bed Observation Medical-Surgical unit serving a diverse patient population including cardiac, neurological, post-surgical, GI/urology, and detox/CIWA cases
    • Perform cardiac cath recovery (femoral/TR bands), NIHSS and neuro assessments, and dysphagia screenings
    • Initiate and titrate drips including Heparin and Insulin; manage indwelling drains, straight cath/foley care, and NG tube insertion
    • Administer blood products with accurate documentation and apply strong critical thinking and assessment skills throughout each shift
    • Float within skillset to a secondary campus location with a minimum of 2 hours notice; mid-shift float within the same campus is also possible
    • Adhere to weekend and holiday rotation requirements; may precept students and new hires as this is a teaching facility
    Required Qualifications
    • Current, active RN Compact License required
    • American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification required
    • NIHSS certification required
    • Minimum of two years of recent, strong Medical-Surgical experience
    • At least one prior travel nursing assignment required
    • Recent Epic EMR experience required (checkoff class will be required upon start)
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Experience with post-surgical care including appendectomy, cholecystectomy, and kidney stone procedures
    • Familiarity with observation-level patient management across cardiac, neurological, and GI/urology populations
    • Comfort with cross-campus float assignments in a multi-site health system environment
