Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 30-bed Medical Surgical unit with a 1:4–5 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Care for patient populations including hip/knee, mastectomy, and abdominal surgery patients
• Administer and monitor drips including PCA and Heparin
• Float across multiple campuses as required
• Participate in holiday coverage — contractors are expected to work 1–2 of the following summer holidays: Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day (unless the unit is closed)
• Document and manage patient care using EPIC EMR

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 24 months of Medical Surgical experience in a hospital or medical center setting
• PCA and Heparin drip experience required
• Proficiency with EPIC EMR required
• Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license required at time of submission
• BLS certification from AHA (American Heart Association) or ARC (American Red Cross) required
• Valid Driver's License required
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Post-operative surgical experience highly preferred
• Patient care experience with hip/knee, mastectomy, and abdominal surgery populations highly preferred
• Professional reference from a charge nurse, supervisor, nurse manager, director, CNO, or COO within the past 24 months preferred
• Medical Surgical or Medical Surgical/Telemetry-specific skills checklist preferred
