Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 46-bed Medical Surgical unit serving general med surg and all surgical cases except orthopedic and spine
- Manage patient ratios of 1:4/5 during day shift in a fast-paced acute care environment
- Administer and monitor continuous IV drips including amiodarone, diltiazem, heparin, dobutamine, and milrinone
- Operate and manage equipment including chest tubes, JP drains, 3-way foley catheters, and nasogastric tubes
- Document all patient care activities accurately using EPIC electronic medical records
- Float across Medical Surgical units within the facility as needed
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 24 months of current Medical Surgical, Stepdown, or Progressive Care RN experience
- Active Iowa RN license or active Compact/Multistate RN license
- Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic medical records system
- Demonstrated experience managing drips: amiodarone, diltiazem, heparin, dobutamine, and milrinone
- Hands-on experience with chest tubes, JP drains, 3-way foley catheters, and NG tubes
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Professional reference from a charge nurse, supervisor, nurse manager, director, CNO, or COO within the past 24 months
