    Registered Nurse – Inpatient Medical/Surgical (TDY Contract)

    Key Responsibilities
    • Deliver patient care through the full nursing process including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation for patients ranging from birth to elderly
    • Conduct initial patient assessments and perform reassessments every 24 hours
    • Provide care for post-surgical and behavioral health patients, applying age-specific considerations and cultural diversity principles
    • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare professionals to achieve quality, cost-effective patient outcomes
    • Administer treatments and medications, interpret diagnostic tests, and provide education to patients, families, and significant others
    • Supervise unit secretaries and patient care technicians in collaboration with the Charge Nurse
    Required Qualifications
    • Completion of an NLN-approved nursing education program
    • Current licensure in good standing as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Alaska
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
    • Ability to pass and maintain all required position competencies
    • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (required or willingness to obtain)
    • Proficient oral and written communication skills with working knowledge of medical terminology
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Experience working with both pediatric and adult patient populations
    • Prior experience managing behavioral health patients and applying therapeutic communication techniques
    • Ability to work independently and adapt to flexible scheduling demands
