Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Critical Care Step-Down (Travel)

Schedule / Job Type
Contract | 13 Weeks | Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Expected 36 hours/week | Every other weekend expected (24 hours)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a Critical Care Step-Down unit serving an adult population (18 years and older) with diagnoses including cardiac conditions, sepsis, acute respiratory failure, CHF exacerbation, post-operative care, and CIWA protocol management
- Monitor patients using cardiac monitors, suction equipment, oxygen delivery systems, and vital sign machines in a 22-bed unit with a 4:1 patient ratio
- Perform thorough patient assessments, apply critical thinking, and manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- Document accurately using the Meditech EHR system — proficiency required
- Float as first to float when unit needs arise
- Adhere to facility dress code: navy blue scrubs; hoodies, sweatshirts, and non-facility T-shirts on Fridays are not permitted
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in West Virginia or compact state eligibility
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience
- ACLS certification required
- BLS certification required
- Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) or higher
- Proficiency with Meditech EHR
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with post cardiac catheterization care
- Experience with peritoneal dialysis
- Background in cardiac and/or pulmonary specialty nursing
