Travelers may be expected to float as needed. The RN patient ratio during the day is 4:1 and 5:1 during nights. The most common diagnoses on this unit include ARDS, esophagectomies, Whipple procedures, and sepsis. The nurse-to-nurse aide ratio is between 1:7 and 1:11 due to unit sharing with the progressive care unit.
