- Surgical experience
- Experience caring for patients after vascular, thoracic, colorectal, and general surgery
- Chest tube management experience
- Administration of medications such as Diltiazem, heparin, Lasix, insulin, or amiodarone
- Knowledge of lines, tubes, drains for post-surgical patients
- Experience with tracheostomies and laryngectomies
- Telemetry experience
- Ability to manage complex wounds
- Care and maintenance of central lines
- Blood draws
Description:
This position is for a medical/surgical inpatient unit with a patient capacity of 32 beds.
Travelers may be expected to float as needed.
The RN patient ratio during the day is 4:1 and 5:1 during nights.
The most common diagnoses on this unit include ARDS, esophagectomies, Whipple procedures, and sepsis.
The nurse-to-nurse aide ratio is between 1:7 and 1:11 due to unit sharing with the progressive care unit.
