Description:
The role involves caring for acute care patients with conditions including infection, renal, cardiac, pulmonary, oncology, orthopedic, bariatric, pre-transplant, observation, and psychology.
Patients may stay for only a few hours to a day or longer during high census periods.
This high patient turnover allows nurses to encounter a variety of patient conditions.
Nurses will receive additional training to care for different patient needs.
Staff will work with various special equipment including Alaris pumps, CPAPs, BIPAPs, bladder scanners, lifts, hover mats, EKGs, and scales.
The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4-5 on all shifts.
Weekend shifts are required every other weekend.
No on-call shifts are required for this position.
A variety of interdisciplinary support services are available, including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation.
The patient demographic includes adults and geriatrics.
Nurses must be prepared to learn a wide range of skills to meet the diverse needs of patients.
