The role involves caring for patients with acute medical conditions. The patient population includes those with diabetes, renal issues, COPD, abdominal rule outs, and cancer patients not receiving current chemotherapy. This unit does not care for surgical patients. The nurse will work with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:6. Floating within the service line is required as necessary. Weekend shifts are required every other weekend. Experience in telemetry is preferred. Candidates must have skills in the management of dysrhythmias. The nurse should be capable of performing bedside procedures such as thoracentesis and paracentesis. Basic care skills such as phlebotomy and IV management are necessary. Understanding isolation precautions and PPE protocols is beneficial. The position requires effective communication and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
