Job Opportunity – Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse – North Carolina
Start Date: October 5, 2026
Location: Wilmington, North Carolina

Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (18:45 – 07:15), 36 or 48 hours per week. Every other weekend required. Holiday coverage required. Contract length 13-26 weeks.
Highlights:
- 43-bed general medical/surgical unit serving adult and geriatric populations with daily census of approximately 43 patients
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6, with charge role preferred for night shift clinicians
- Epic charting system with Pyxis medication management and SBAR communication protocols
- Comprehensive 24-hour orientation provided to ensure unit familiarity and competency
- Exposure to heparin drips, wound vac management, high flow oxygen, and limited BiPap support with respiratory assistance
- Interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and social services
Requirements:
- Current North Carolina or Compact State RN license
- Minimum 2 years of recent medical/surgical nursing experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Epic charting experience required
- Proficiency in EKG interpretation and dysrhythmia management; must pass EKG testing prior to start date
- Experience with IV insertion and maintenance, insulin protocols, peripheral line management, and surgical drain care
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- First-time travelers accepted
- Ability to float to similar units and alternate care locations as needed
- Willingness and availability to work during inclement weather events, mass casualty situations, or natural disasters as part of assigned Storm/Hurricane Team
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
