Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Med Surg Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 19:00 - 07:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: RN License Required Certifications: BLS Must-Have: Great communication skills, teamwork Description: Join a dynamic Medical-Surgical unit known for its exceptional teamwork and patient care. The unit accommodates 48 beds, aiming for patient ratios of 1:6 to 1:7. Staff includes 9 nurses, 5 patient care technicians, and 1 unit secretary. Typical equipment used includes EKG machines, bladder scanners, and ultra-light devices for IV insertion. Documentation is managed through a Meditech system. Scheduling typically requires 3 twelve-hour shifts, with a focus on every other weekend available. Floating may occur on an as-needed basis. The unit performs procedures such as wound care, I/O catheterizations, and tracheostomy care. The dress code consists of navy blue or white scrubs. Policies and guidelines emphasize frequent huddles to ensure team communication. The unit is recognized for its achievement in reducing acquired infections and has received multiple awards for outstanding teamwork.
