The unit has 23 beds with patient ratios of 1:4 to 1:5. Staffing includes unit secretaries and patient care technicians. Available equipment includes traction, fixators, and cooling equipment. The documentation system in use is Meditech. The typical schedule consists of three 12-hour shifts, including three weekend shifts per scheduling period. In the event of a float, contract labor will float first to other Med Surg level care units. We prioritize a positive patient experience with bedside shift report and hourly rounding. As a Level 1 Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center, we provide a variety of procedures. Patients may include those recovering from post-operative knee, hip, and shoulder replacements, as well as trauma and some neuro overflow cases. Advanced skills in ortho and telemetry are preferred, with NIHSS training being beneficial. The dress code is navy scrubs.
