Position available in a Medical Surgical unit with 23 beds. Patient ratios are 1:4 and 1:5. Unit includes support from unit secretaries and Patient Care Technicians. Types of equipment used include traction, fixators, and cooling equipment. Documentation is done through Meditech. Scheduling requires 3 twelve-hour shifts and 3 weekend shifts during each scheduling period. Floating policy indicates that contract labor is the first to float. Floating may occur to other Medical Surgical level of care units. Patient care experience includes bedside shift report and hourly rounding. Unit certifications include Level 1 Trauma and Comprehensive Stroke. Post-operative procedures performed include knee, hip, and shoulder replacements, as well as care for trauma patients and some neuro overflow. NIH Stroke Scale experience is beneficial. Dress code requires navy scrubs. Unit has specific guidelines and policies that will be provided.
