The unit has 20 beds with a patient ratio of 1:6. Unit secretaries and patient care technicians are available during the day. There is a virtual nurse who completes patient admissions, allowing bedside nurses to focus on their other patients. The dress code is royal blue scrubs, with the option to wear black scrub pants. The unit recognizes teamwork with an award for collaboration and support. Candidates must be willing to work three weekend shifts per month. There are no on-call requirements, and agency or contract nurses will float first if necessary. Procedures performed on the unit include med/surg care, while dialysis treatment occurs off the unit.
