Job Summary
Join a dedicated healthcare team as a Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse in an acute care hospital located in Herrin, Illinois. This role offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive nursing care to a diverse patient population, including those requiring specialized care on a medical stroke unit.
The successful candidate will manage a patient assignment with a 5:1 nurse-to-patient ratio, ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care during night shifts. You will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, contributing to optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, including thorough assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient outcomes.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, meticulously monitoring for effectiveness and potential adverse reactions.
- Effectively manage a patient assignment with a 5:1 nurse-to-patient ratio, prioritizing tasks and delivering high-quality care.
- Monitor and interpret patient vital signs, laboratory results, and other diagnostic data to inform care decisions.
- Collaborate actively with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Educate patients and their families on health conditions, medication regimens, and comprehensive discharge instructions.
- Document all patient care activities accurately, concisely, and timely within the electronic health record system.
- Respond promptly and effectively to medical emergencies, providing critical care interventions as needed.
- Maintain a safe, therapeutic, and clean environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
