Travel Registered Nurse - Telemetry/Stroke

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Travel Registered Nurse for a 13-week assignment on a 34-bed Telemetry/Med-Surg unit, specializing in primary stroke and telemetry patients. This role is based at a facility in Elmira, New York.

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive nursing care within a collaborative team and primary nursing model, focusing on continuous cardiac monitoring, neurological assessments, and the implementation of evidence-based stroke protocols. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, contributing to high-quality patient outcomes for a diverse adult population.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care for adult patients on a Telemetry/Stroke unit, including those requiring continuous cardiac monitoring and neurological assessments.
  • Monitor, interpret, and document cardiac rhythms, promptly identifying and responding to changes in patient condition.
  • Implement and manage care plans for primary stroke patients, adhering to established protocols and guidelines.
  • Administer medications, perform treatments, and assist with procedures as per physician orders and nursing standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to ensure coordinated and holistic patient care.
  • Participate in team and primary nursing models, ensuring continuity of care and patient advocacy.
  • Float to other units as needed to support hospital operations and patient care demands.
  • Assume occasional charge nurse responsibilities, overseeing unit operations and guiding nursing staff.
  • Educate patients and their families on disease processes, medication regimens, and discharge planning.
Required Qualifications
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in an acute care Telemetry and/or Stroke unit setting.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
