Must-Have:
- Experience with chest tubes
- Experience with various drips, such as Diltiazem, heparin, Lasix, insulin, or amiodarone
- Ability to manage lines, tubes, and drains for post-surgical patients
- Experience with trachs and laryngectomies
- Familiarity with telemetry
- Experience with complex wounds
- Care and maintenance of central lines, including blood draws
Description:
This position is for an inpatient surgical unit that primarily cares for trauma and acute care surgical patients.
The unit is busy, where rehabilitation and support for patients are the highest priority.
Common diagnoses include traumas such as spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, and orthopedic injuries from trauma.
Acute care surgical diagnosis includes hernia repair, small bowel obstructions, appendectomy, and cholecystectomy.
Travelers should have experience in a fast-paced medical surgical environment, preferably with Level I Trauma center experience, though several years at a Level II Trauma center is acceptable.
Patient ratios are 1:4 during the day and 1:5 at night.
LNA ratios to patients are 1:12.
