Holiday requests will be considered, but not guaranteed. Nurse ratios are 1 to 5. Charge Nurse or clinical supervisor will provide break relief and may not take patient assignments. Nurse aides are available on the unit, with 2 on days and 1 on nights. Weekend requirement includes 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule. Holidays will be worked into the permanent staff rotation. Scrub color is navy. There is no telemetry available; a portable telemetry box will be provided if needed. Nurses must be able to read and interpret monitor data and will take a dysrhythmia exam. Ventilator support is not available. A hospitalist will be on call 24/7. IV team and pharmacy are available 24/7. Shifts are 12 hours, from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM. Floating to telemetry may occur with a 1 to 4 ratio, and nurses may also float between medical surgical floors. Floor-specific orientation typically includes one shift on the unit. Common diagnoses include medical patients and post-operative or surgical patient populations. Client can cancel up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment.
