Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical-Surgical Acute Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year of hospital experience preferred License: Active RN licensure Certifications: BLS certification required; ACLS preferred for Charge RN position Must-Have: Experience with titrating drips, specifically Heparin Description: The unit has 18 beds, with all private rooms except for one semi-private. The nurse-patient ratio is 4-5:1 during the day and 5-6:1 at night. Common diagnoses include general medical patients with various conditions. Patients may have oxygen requirements up to 6L NC and stable BiPAP/CPAP use at night or as needed. RNs collaborate with a 24-hour Charge RN and may have patient assignments at times. There are two patient care technicians on each shift, with a ratio of 9:1 when full. Telemetry will be monitored remotely, and unit equipment primarily consists of Philips devices. RNs are expected to attempt IV starts and utilize unit resources if unsuccessful. In-house resources are available, including hospitalist/intensivist coverage. Shifts are 12 hours long, with a requirement to work every other weekend and holiday rotations based on policy. Travel RNs may float to other units as needed. Staff are to provide their own scrubs, with no pediatric scrubs permitted. A unit-specific orientation includes one shift with a preceptor. The staffing model includes round-the-clock pharmacy services for medication preparation. This position requires a commitment to maintaining patient safety and quality care. A negative drug screen is a prerequisite for employment.
