Job Title: Medical Surgical RN - Urology/Nephrology Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years in medical/surgical nursing License: Active RN license required Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: Charge experience preferred Required experience in Telemetry and Cardiac Monitoring Experience in Genitourinary/Renal care is essential Proficient in IV therapy and phlebotomy Experience with blood product administration Description: Will work in Charge role as needed for this assignment. Position involves caring for patients in a medical-surgical setting with a focus on urology and nephrology. The average daily census is 23 patients in a 25-bed unit. Candidates must have experience in medical/surgical nursing to ensure a solid foundation for travel assignments. Every other weekend work is required. The clinician will float within scope to meet facility needs. Local candidates are accepted and must have an active license in hand prior to application. RTO restrictions are ideally no more than 5 days. Candidate may be called off up to 36 hours per assignment without being compensated for canceled hours. Experience in management of pre/post hemodialysis patients and renal failure cases is required. Skills in managing chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, and high flow nasal cannula are necessary. Knowledge of isolation precautions and wound care, including wound vac management, is needed. Previous experience with a charting system is required. Understanding of a wide variety of patient diagnoses is essential. This includes urological and nephrological illnesses, kidney diseases, and post-operative care for kidney transplant patients. Candidates must demonstrate ability to manage emergency responses and utilize rapid response teams when necessary. The unit may have an influx of patients requiring quick turnover and must be prepared to handle a diverse array of cases. The unit collaborates with various interdisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive patient care. Candidate must adhere to strict module deadlines for training and compliance.
