Job Summary
Join our dedicated nursing team as a Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse in Hilo, Hawaii. This role is based in a 77-bed Medical Unit, providing comprehensive care to a diverse adult patient population.
As an integral part of our team, you will manage a varied caseload, ensuring high-quality patient outcomes. The unit maintains a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:6 during day and evening shifts, and 1:8 during night shifts, fostering a supportive environment for both patients and staff.
This position requires a commitment to patient-centered care, strong clinical skills, and the ability to adapt to dynamic healthcare settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct and comprehensive nursing care to patients on a 77-bed Medical Unit.
- Administer medications, perform treatments, and monitor patient progress effectively.
- Manage and care for patients requiring specialized interventions such as wound vacs and chest tubes.
- Utilize the Meditech EMR system for accurate and timely documentation of patient care.
- Collaborate with physicians, allied health professionals, and other nursing staff to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatments, and discharge instructions.
- Respond to emergent situations and provide critical care as needed.
- May be required to float to other units, including the Laulima Unit and Cardiovascular Unit, based on facility needs.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of two (2) years of recent experience as a Registered Nurse in a Medical-Surgical setting.
- Proof of current flu vaccination or an approved medical/religious exemption prior to contract start.

Licensing Requirements
- Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Hawaii is required by the start of the assignment. Candidates without an active HI license must apply upon acceptance of offer.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
