All submissions must include a copy of the candidate's unexpired driver's license.
Any hits on professional license must be disclosed at the time of submission.
The unit has a total of 28 beds, all private.
Staffing includes 2 certified nursing assistants during day shifts, with no CNAs on nights.
The nurse to patient ratio is 1:6-7.
There is a clinical manager present Monday through Saturday, who acts as both charge nurse and nurse manager, but does not take patients unless the census exceeds 24.
Nights have a resource nurse who takes a full patient assignment.
Weekend requirements include every other weekend, with Saturday and Sunday being mandatory shifts.
Most staff prefer to work Friday in conjunction with their weekend shifts.
Permanent staff are assigned into a holiday rotation.
Scrub color is navy blue, and jackets worn must also be navy blue.
Patients may be on remote telemetry, but there are no monitors in the unit.
Tele patients are monitored remotely by a monitor technician.
Drugs administered may include Heparin and possibly medications for comfort measures; however, no cardiac drips are utilized.
The unit is equipped to manage BiPAP, CPAP, and high flow oxygen per respiratory therapy.
RN shifts are 12 hours, from 7 PM to 7:30 AM.
Certified nursing assistants work 8-hour shifts from 6 AM to 2:30 PM and 2 PM to 10:30 PM.
Self-scheduling and blocked schedules are permissible, provided the unit's needs are met.
Floating may occur to other medical-surgical units.
Orientation consists of one shift with a preceptor.
Common diagnoses include post-surgical patients and orthopedic cases on one area, and medical-surgical, pneumonia, dialysis, palliative care, hospice, chemotherapy, and COVID patients housed in designated areas of the other.
Staff must be comfortable with the possibility of caring for both clean and dirty patients simultaneously.
The client may cancel two shifts per 13-week assignment.
Charting system utilized is Cerner.
A Bachelor's degree in nursing is not required for submission.
