Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse for a 14-week travel assignment on a Medical-Surgical unit at MVHS-Wynn in Utica, New York. This role involves providing comprehensive care to adult patients with a variety of medical and post-surgical conditions.
The primary patient population includes individuals recovering from surgeries for conditions such as abdominal pain, cholelithiasis, osteoarthritis, fractures, back pain, and morbid obesity (bariatric surgery). The successful candidate will work night shifts, contributing to a collaborative and patient-centered environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
- Manage post-surgical patient recovery, monitoring vital signs, wound care, and pain management.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring accurate documentation.
- Operate and monitor specialized equipment such as IV pumps, N/G tubes, and feeding tubes.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, other nurses, and interdisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes.
- Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
- Float to other units within the facility as required by patient census and acuity.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of two (2) years of recent experience as a Registered Nurse in a Medical-Surgical (MS) setting.
- Prior travel nursing experience is required.
- Experience caring for adult patient populations with diverse medical and post-surgical diagnoses.

- Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems, specifically EPIC.
- Demonstrated competency with IV pumps, nasogastric (N/G) tubes, and feeding tubes.

Licensing Requirements
- Active and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
- NURSYS report for license verification.
