Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 14 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: 1 year License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS (PALS preferred) Must-Have: Experience with electronic medical record systems Description: Unit Notes: Medical Surgical RN position available for night shifts. Shift is from 7 PM to 7 AM, every other weekend required. 36 hours guaranteed per week. ACLS and BLS certifications are required, PALS is preferred. Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience is required. Previous travel assignments of at least 2 are preferred. Ability to learn electronic medical record systems is a must. The unit has 16 beds with a typical census of around 3 patients at a time. Nurse to patient ratios are 1:3-4. Nights generally have 3 RN/LPN or 2 RN/LPN and 1 paramedic on staff. Charge Nurses also support the Medical Surgical unit when the ER is not busy. Common patient diagnoses include geriatric, post-operative orthopedic, general surgery, and vascular surgery. Nurses are expected to titrate certain medications. Experience in critical access hospitals is preferred but not required. Telemetry patients are monitored on the unit and strips are interpreted by RNs. There may be nurse aides available if adequately staffed. Respiratory equipment such as CPAP and BiPAP is utilized on the unit. Shifts and scheduling are coordinated by the Director of Nursing. Weekend requirements may include other weekend days if necessary. Holidays will be considered as part of the contract. Floating to the ER may be requested in emergent situations. Dark-colored scrubs are required. Day 1 includes an orientation with HR and time spent on electronic medical record training, while Day 2 consists of a full shift oriented with a preceptor.
