Description:
This is a 34-bed unit with high surgical volume.
It is a fast-paced environment.
Nights will involve managing 6 patients.
There are many post-operative vital checks every 4 hours.
Pain management and mobility expectations must be met.
Average length of stay is about 3 days.
Approximately 90% of patients are discharged to home.
The unit will provide care for diverse patient diagnoses, including myelopathy, stenosis, radiculopathy, and arthritis.
Special procedures performed include decompressions and spinal fusions.
Staffing support includes IV teams, physical therapy, and respiratory services.
The unit is equipped with ceiling lifts and various monitoring devices.
Nurses will float within their scope of practice as needed.
Weekend coverage is expected every third weekend.
The atmosphere encourages teamwork and interdisciplinary collaboration.
