Demonstrates competency through the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Upholds standards of professional performance, including ethical practice and quality of practice. Strives to achieve optimal outcomes for patients and families. Education requirements include a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing for those who started in this role after May 1, 2020. Successful completion of a competency-based orientation program is required. Communicates and collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to ensure continuity and coordination of care. Acts as a patient and family advocate. Performs point-of-care testing as required. Demonstrates ethical and culturally sensitive behavior. Assess the overall needs of patients and families. Identifies expected outcomes and develops an individualized interprofessional plan of care. Evaluates patient and family educational needs using appropriate teaching strategies. Initiates discharge planning at the time of patient contact. Ensures required documentation is performed accurately and timely. Assumes a leadership role and delegates appropriately to unlicensed assistive personnel. Engages in ongoing professional development related to nursing practice. Actively engages in safety initiatives and completes all safety requirements. Performs other duties as assigned.
