Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse specializing in Medical Surgical care for a rewarding contract opportunity in Calais, Maine. This role involves providing comprehensive, individualized patient care within a community hospital setting, adhering to both facility and Maine State standards.

The successful candidate will be an integral part of the patient care team, utilizing the full nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for a diverse patient population ranging from pediatric to geriatric. This position emphasizes collaborative care planning with physicians, interdisciplinary team members, patients, and their families to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and coordinate the activities of the patient care team, ensuring the provision of high-quality, individualized care.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans in partnership with physicians, other healthcare professionals, patients, and their families.
  • Apply the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) to manage the care of all assigned patients.
  • Provide age-appropriate nursing care to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient populations.
  • Promote a collaborative and supportive environment by fostering teamwork with medical staff and personnel across the hospital.
  • Adhere strictly to all hospital policies and procedures, including those related to confidentiality, patient rights, and professional conduct.
Required Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
Skills & Competencies
  • Excellent clinical assessment skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient computer and electronic health record (EHR) documentation skills.
  • Ability to function effectively and independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to teamwork and interdisciplinary collaboration.
