Must-Have:
Candidate must have at least 1.5 years of Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary experience.
Candidate must have at least 1 year of MedSurg experience in a large hospital with more than 450 beds.
Description:
The position requires a Registered Nurse to provide general medical and surgical nursing care.
Nurses will care for a diverse population of patients with varying diagnoses, including chronic illnesses such as COPD, Diabetes, and CHF.
Additional patient care may involve GI issues like pancreatitis and infections like pneumonia, cellulitis, and sepsis.
Patients with neurological issues such as stroke and mental health disorders will also be managed.
Candidates will handle procedures such as colonoscopies, thoracentesis, and minor surgeries.
General responsibilities include assessments, care planning, and inter-professional communication.
Utilization of the EHR, IV pumps, wound vacs, heating/cooling pads, feeding pumps and tubes, and chest tubes is required.
Management of heparin and insulin drips as well as IV therapy management is also part of the role.
The unit operates with a patient ratio of 1:5-6.
Nurses will work 12-hour shifts, with an expectation of floating to areas in greatest need.
Three weekend shifts are required in a four-week period.
Dress code is Caribbean Blue scrubs.
Training includes a general hospital orientation and specific nursing orientation, including Epic classes.
