Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Surgical Registered Nurse for a 13-week contract assignment in Aberdeen, Washington. This role is based in an acute care setting, providing essential nursing care to a diverse adult patient population with various medical and surgical conditions.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering comprehensive patient care, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team, and ensuring positive patient outcomes. This position requires adaptability and a willingness to float to other departments as needed to support hospital operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care, including assessments, medication administration, and treatment delivery, for medical-surgical patients.
  • Monitor patient conditions, interpret diagnostic data, and document all observations and interventions accurately in the electronic health record.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Educate patients and their families on health management, post-discharge care, and medication regimens.
  • Adhere strictly to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards to ensure patient safety and quality of care.
  • Participate in interdepartmental floating rotations as required by unit needs.
Required Qualifications
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington State or a compact state.
  • Completion of an approved 6-hour suicide prevention training.
  • Verification of demographics via Nursys.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
  • Ability to float to other departments as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience with the Meditech Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.

  • Clinical Skills: Comprehensive patient assessment, medication administration (oral, IV, IM), wound care, IV insertion and management, vital sign monitoring, electronic health record documentation.
  • Equipment: Proficient in the use of standard medical-surgical equipment (e.g., IV pumps, vital sign monitors, oxygen delivery systems).
  • Soft Skills: Strong communication (verbal and written), excellent teamwork and collaboration, adaptability, critical thinking, problem-solving, patient advocacy, and time management.
Shift Details
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift Type: Day shift (AM)
  • Hours: 06:45 AM - 07:15 PM (12-hour shifts)

  • Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend off
