Description:
Unit has 32 beds with a patient ratio of 1:5.
Assess knowledge through a pass/fail exam during orientation.
An open book exam will cover skills learned, with necessary resources provided for success.
A score of 90% is required to pass.
Fingernail policy prohibits artificial nails in patient care departments.
Refusal to comply will result in termination.
Driver's license is required for submission and determines candidate distance from the unit.
Common diagnoses include Medical-Surgical with a specialty in post-operative cancer intervention.
RNs must be able to titrate drips, including heparin, lidocaine, and TPN.
Charge nurse and house supervisor roles are available.
Nurse aides may be present, but ratios depend on sitter needs.
Central monitoring is available, and RNs are responsible for reading strips.
Shifts are scheduled for three 12-hour shifts.
Every third weekend is required, with night weekends scheduled on Fridays and Saturdays.
Holiday requirements are rotating.
Floating to other medical/surgical units is rare.
Scrub color is navy.
Unit-specific orientation is provided.
Cancellation policy allows for the cancellation of shifts as defined.
Charting system used is EPIC.
This position is within an acute care setting.
