Unit has 18 private rooms due to the nature of the patient population. Staffing ratios typically range from 1:5-6, with a maximum of 1:4 for COVID patients. Each shift is staffed with 3-4 RNs. BLS is the only required certification for this position. Common patient diagnoses include various Infectious Diseases, including COVID, MRSA, and C-Diff. RNs should have a strong understanding of MedSurg practices and Isolation precautions. RNs will manage IV medications, including typical MedSurg antibiotics. Charge Nurse is available 24/7 on the unit. CNA support is available with 2 CNAs per shift. Respiratory therapists manage CPAP and BiPAP devices; no ventilators are used on this unit. Remote telemetry monitoring is provided; RNs are not required to interpret strips. Shifts are from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM with a 30-minute lunch break. Weekend shifts are required every other week, with both Friday and Saturday nights scheduled. Holiday shifts may be required depending on unit needs. Traveling RNs may be the first to float to other MedSurg units as needed. Scrub color must be royal blue; specific dress code guidelines are enforced.
