Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 26 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year required, preference for 2 years in Med/Surg License: Valid RN license required Certifications: BLS required, NIHSS preferred Must-Have: - Must be willing to work with a variety of staff (i.e., RN, LPN, Techs, etc.) - Must be available for the first 2 weeks for training - Must float to other Med Surg units as needed - Weekend requirement: Every other weekend Description: Position involves providing nursing care to adult and geriatric patients. The patient mix includes medical patients and surgical cases. Common specialties include orthopedic, neurovascular, cardiopulmonary, gastrointestinal, urology, and gynecological surgeries. Staffing ratio is typically 1:5-6 for nights, flexing to 1:7-8 with LPN support when necessary. Experience with a variety of patient care tasks is essential. Tasks may include managing ports, administering medications, and providing post-operative care. Applicants should have familiarity with telemetry monitoring. Nurses are expected to provide care while adhering to safety protocols. Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, including therapy and pharmacy, is important. Nurses will be responsible for patient assessments, care planning, and documentation. This role requires effective communication skills with patients, families, and team members. Flexibility to float to other units based on staffing needs is essential.
