Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills. Description: The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers. They ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high-quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders. Support is provided through a shared governance model. The framework for practice is guided by a professional practice model and evidence-based practice and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by core values. All RN Clinical Nurses are expected to be licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the relevant nursing practice acts. They implement the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards set forth by relevant nursing associations. As a member of the patient services team, they uphold the voice of the patient, system policies, and procedures while supporting service excellence goals. Core responsibilities include performing the Nursing Process in clinical care using evidence-based practice. They use analytical and critical thinking skills to ensure that care is individualized. They coordinate care through effective partnerships, recognizing that caring is central to achieving optimal patient care outcomes. They provide relationship-based patient-centered care consistent with population-specific characteristics. The RN Clinical Nurse always partners with patients and significant others when appropriate. They practice using current clinical practice standards. They coordinate the delivery and documentation of safe quality patient care that promotes a professional care delivery model. This includes diverse and inclusive interdisciplinary communication methods. They complete timely documentation and promote a respectful, inclusive clinical environment. They demonstrate teamwork and collaboration by practicing in a fiscally responsible manner. They participate in performance improvement and support research to promote safe, quality patient care. Professional development is important, and they complete ongoing competency assessments and required education. They serve as preceptors or mentors for other professional nurses to ensure a qualified workforce. Evidence-based practice and nursing research are promoted. They participate in data collection and consult appropriate experts to address practice questions. Resource planning for patient care across the care continuum is a proactive part of their role. They support efficient and effective use of resources while participating in protocol and procedure development. Other duties may be assigned as needed. Compliance with all policies, standards of work, and codes of conduct is expected.
