Description: This position is for a Medical Surgical Registered Nurse. The shift is three days a week from 06:45 to 19:15. The average daily census is 22 patients. Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of experience. First-time travelers are not accepted. The nurse will be required to work every other weekend. Clinicians may float to other units within their scope as needed. Candidates should discuss schedule requests with the manager. No more than 5 days of requested time off is preferred. The client may call off up to 36 hours per thirteen-week assignment without compensation for canceled hours. If more hours are canceled than allowed, billing for excess shifts will occur. Special requirements include skills in telemetry, gastrointestinal care, renal management, IV therapy, medication management, and neurological care. Experience with orthopedic trauma and surgical drains is essential. Nurses on this unit will gain experience in wound management, specialty dressing care, and post-surgical care. The patient population includes adults, older adults, and occasionally adolescents. Average length of stay varies based on procedure and may range from 2 to 30 days. The role provides a robust learning environment in interdisciplinary care planning and patient/family education.
