Description

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute professional and clinical nursing knowledge as part of an interdisciplinary care team on a Med Surg/Telemetry unit
  • Provide and manage direct patient care with a ratio of up to 6:1, including Neuro/Ortho and general Med Surg populations
  • Administer and monitor Heparin therapy as part of patient treatment plans
  • Float to other Med Surg units within the facility and potentially across local campuses within the same discipline as needed
  • Document patient care accurately using EPIC EMR
  • Participate in holiday coverage - travelers are expected to work 2 of 3 designated winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, New Year's Day)
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 1.5 years of Med Surg/Telemetry nursing experience
  • Experience with Heparin administration and monitoring - required
  • Active RN license in Iowa or a Compact nursing license (Nursys verification required showing Active status)
  • Active BLS certification (AHA preferred; ARC or U.S. Military certificates also accepted)
  • Active NIHSS certification - required
  • Valid Driver's License required (must reside at least 50 miles from the facility based on driver's license address to be eligible)
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Experience with EPIC EMR
  • Familiarity with Neuro and Orthopedic patient populations
  • Comfort with floating across multiple Med Surg units
