Contract | Night Shift | Onsite - Travelers are expected to maintain flexibility with scheduling, including weekend and holiday rotation. Up to 3 consecutive shifts may be available; however, this is not guaranteed and scheduling needs may vary.
Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 20-bed Neurosciences unit (14 floor beds) with a 1:5-6 nurse-to-patient ratio for floor patients
• Care for patients with neurological diagnoses including stroke, seizures, Deep Brain Stimulators (DBS), surgical/post-op spines, and neurological disorders
• Perform and document neurological assessments using the NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale) per unit protocol
• Administer and monitor set-rate and titratable drips (e.g., Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitro, Dopamine, Nipride, Ketamine, Lasix, Bumex, Insulin) per physician orders and applicable protocols
• Document telemetry strip verification in Epic, confirming monitor tech readings; RNs are not required to independently read strips
• Manage G-tube care with proficiency; collaborate with RT (available 24/7) for floor vent patients - independent vent experience is not required

Required Qualifications

• Active RN licensure (or eligibility) in the state of West Virginia
• BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required - must be in hand at time of submission
• Recent and proficient experience with Epic EMR
• Strong overall Neuro nursing experience with demonstrated proficiency in G-tube management
• Willingness to participate in weekend and holiday scheduling rotation; float assignments to other units may be required

Preferred Experience / Skills

• ACLS certification preferred
• Experience with telemetry monitoring in a floor or step-down setting
• Familiarity with neurological surgical and post-operative patient populations
• Comfort working alongside nurse aides (3 per shift) in a team-based care environment
