Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit serving a general intermediate population with conditions including CHF, cardiac arrhythmias, AMI, CVA/TIA, sepsis/infection, wounds, altered mental status, ETOH withdrawal, SI, general post-op, ortho, urology procedures, and GI bleed
• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry and manage dysrhythmias; perform telemetry monitoring on the unit
• Manage central lines, PICC lines, peripheral lines, IVs, surgical drains, chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac), and feeding tubes
• Administer blood products, manage heparin protocols, cardiac drips (no titration), and PCA
• Provide tracheostomy care, wound care/wound vac management, and oxygen administration including High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
• Utilize Rapid Response/Code teams and maintain isolation precautions as required; float within service line and to sister facilities as needed - active Kansas and Missouri RN license or compact license required at time of submission

Required Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered RN license - both Kansas and Missouri licensure (or compact equivalent) required at time of submission; pending licenses not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience in Medical Surgical/Telemetry
• BLS certification required
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
• Proficiency in telemetry, cardiac monitoring, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown-level care, and all listed clinical skills
• Charting experience with EPIC; must complete pre-start EPIC training modules prior to start date
• Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior travel nursing experience preferred
• Experience with high-acuity intermediate care populations including post-surgical, orthopedic, and neurological patients
• Familiarity with infusion pump and glucometer operation
