The unit has 36 beds. Typical nurse to patient ratios are 1:5-6. Common diagnoses include general MedSurg patients, post-operative patients, and oncology patients with complications. Nurses administer chemotherapy and manage complications such as neutropenic precautions, pneumonia, and infections. Experience with respiratory equipment like CPAP and BiPAP is necessary. Registered Nurses are required to read and interpret telemetry strips. A charge nurse is available 24/7, though they do not take assignments during the day shift. Certified Nursing Assistants are present both day and night shifts. The schedule is created 4-6 weeks in advance, with 12-hour shifts from 7 AM to 7 PM. Travelers are required to work every other weekend and participate in holiday rotations. Floating to other MedSurg/Tele units may occur. No false nails are allowed on the unit. The charting system used is EPIC. A BSN is not required for this position.
