Description:
50-mile radius rule in effect.
All units require familiarity with Epic system.
Ratios are mainly 1:5-6 for both days and nights on most units.
Occasionally, there may be a maximum of 7 patients towards the end of the shift depending on patient acuity.
There is a charge nurse on every unit.
Day charge nurses do not take patients, while night charge nurses do take patients.
All units utilize certified nursing assistants.
Every other weekend work is required, both Saturday and Sunday.
Staff participate in holiday rotation schedules.
Scrub color is royal blue.
Most units have monitor technicians, but RNs must read and interpret strips.
Respiratory therapy is available 24/7.
Registered nurses manage CPAP and BiPAP for non-vented patients as well as EKGs.
An IV team is available house-wide until 10 PM on weekdays and until 3:30 PM on weekends.
In-house pharmacy services are available 24/7.
The common diagnoses include CHF, cardiac catheterization, chest pain, pneumonia, chronic renal disease, COPD, orthopedic cases, and oncology patients.
Travelers may request to work primarily on specific nursing units and may have scheduling preferences considered.
If floating to critical care, nurses will be assigned med/surg or stepdown patients.
