We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse - Medical-Surgical to join a healthcare team in Peterborough, New Hampshire, for a 13-week contract assignment.

The ideal candidate will provide safe, patient-centered care to individuals with a variety of medical and surgical conditions. This role requires strong assessment skills, clinical judgment, medication knowledge, and the ability to prioritize care effectively during a busy night shift.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to Medical-Surgical patients throughout the shift.
  • Perform head-to-toe assessments and monitor vital signs, symptoms, and overall patient condition.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments according to provider orders and facility protocols.
  • Monitor patients for changes in condition and promptly communicate concerns to the appropriate healthcare providers.
  • Manage IV lines, central lines, drains, catheters, and other clinical equipment as applicable.
  • Provide wound care, dressing changes, post-operative care, and pain management.
  • Assist patients with mobility, hygiene, nutrition, toileting, and other activities of daily living as needed.
  • Monitor intake and output and maintain accurate clinical records.
  • Assist with admissions, transfers, procedures, and discharge planning.
  • Educate patients and families about medications, treatments, recovery, and discharge instructions.
  • Recognize signs of patient deterioration and initiate appropriate interventions.
  • Respond appropriately to rapid response and emergency situations.
  • Maintain infection prevention, fall prevention, medication safety, and patient safety standards.
  • Document patient care accurately and in a timely manner using the electronic medical record.
  • Collaborate with physicians, LPNs, CNAs, therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and follow facility policies and nursing standards.
  • Protect patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA requirements.
Qualifications
  • Current Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in New Hampshire.
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Medical-Surgical or acute-care nursing experience.
  • Strong patient assessment and clinical decision-making skills.
  • Experience with medication administration and IV therapy.
  • Ability to recognize and respond to changes in patient condition.
  • Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple patient-care needs effectively.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced hospital environment.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records.
  • Ability to work night shift on a 3×12 schedule.
  • Required certifications should meet applicable facility requirements.
